Course Description:
This course provides counseling professionals with a foundational overview of gender-affirming medical care for transgender and gender-diverse individuals. Participants will explore the goals of gender-affirming care, approaches to accessing gender-affirming hormone therapy, and the roles of different healthcare providers and care settings.
The course will review masculinizing and feminizing hormone therapy, including expected changes, common medical considerations, fertility and reproductive health, and management of common side effects. The course will also address considerations for gender-affirming care for adolescents.
