Internships

Clinical Counseling Internship Program

The clinical internships offered at GHC are the heart of our services, allowing us to offer counseling to families and individuals who would otherwise be unable to obtain them.

Our counselors are in the process of completing or have completed their masters’ degrees in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, marriage and family therapy, and social work. The Gender Health Center is one of the only places in the country to receive intensive training and exposure to narrative therapy, values, and ethics. Our clinical program is highly competitive, rigorous, and requires a critical justice-centered framework.

We have a limited number of spots and accept applications for Fall, Spring, and Summer intern cohorts. Our internship commitments are detailed in our placement agreement.

Bachelors Level and Generalist Internships

Our generalist interns provide necessary support to our administrative and counseling staff. Generalist interns are completing their bachelor's degrees in social work. They provide advocacy and non-clinical support group services to our community members, they support our staff in the processes of grant-writing, auditing GHC processes, intake, and outreach. Like our counseling internships, our generalist internships require a critical justice-centered framework.

We accept applications for Fall, Spring, and Summer intern cohorts. Our internship commitments are detailed in our placement agreement.

Supervision

If you are a licensed clinician (LCSW, LMFT, PsyD) and are interested in joining our volunteer team of supervisors, please reach out to Sara at saras@ghcmail.org. Our volunteer clinical supervisor commitment is detailed in our supervisor agreement.

The Gender Health Center does not need volunteers on a regular basis, however, if you are interested in donating your time, you can fill out the volunteer form and we will contact you when an opportunity arises.
