About the event
This 1.5 hour synchronous virtual, continuing education course is designed for mental health providers who are interested in working with transgender, nonbinary, gender diverse, and queer adults who identify as Kinky. Topics include gender expression, gender identity, and sexual orientation, as well as the unique institutional, societal, and cultural barriers. Through lecture and discussion, participants will gain insights into best practices for affirming and inclusive care, addressing microaggressions, understanding intersectionality, and applying trauma-informed approaches when working with clients. Practitioners will leave with practical tools to discuss kink, foster safe, validating, and culturally responsive therapeutic spaces.
