About Healthcare Services at Gender Health Center in Sacramento:

At the Gender Health Center, we are committed to providing high-quality, equitable, and accessible healthcare for our community. We are proud to share that the UC Davis School of Medicine student-run clinic at the Gender Health Center has earned a 2026 Bronze Rating through the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (NAFC) Quality Standards Program.
The NAFC developed its Quality Standards Program to measure and promote excellence across the nation’s network of free and charitable clinics. These standards help ensure that clinics deliver safe, effective, patient-centered care while continuously improving health outcomes and access to services.
Receiving this recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to quality patient care and our dedication to serving Two-Spirit, transgender, gender diverse, and underserved communities with dignity, respect, and compassion.
We are honored to join the NAFC in its mission of building healthy communities for all through quality, equitable, and accessible healthcare. To learn more about the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics and its Quality Standards Program, visit www.nafcclinics.org.

UC Davis School of Medicine
Student-Run Clinic
The Gender Health Center is a partner clinic of UC Davis School of Medicine. Our patients are seen by UC Davis medical students, Family Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant students, Family Medicine Resident Physicians, and Attending Physicians. All medical students are under the supervision of licensed family practitioners. All provide services on a voluntary basis.
This clinic specializes in providing healthcare services to the LGBTQIA+ community, with a particular emphasis on transgender health. It offers a non-judgmental, affirming, and supportive setting for people throughout their medical transition journeys. Furthermore, the health clinic provides essential medications and services to community members who may otherwise lack access. We primarily serve uninsured or underinsured community members.
Because our clinic operates just twice a month and is powered entirely by community support and donations, there may be a wait time of 2-3 months for new patients to get their first appointment. We know waiting for care can be hard — you deserve support now! While you wait, our Community Support Services team is here for you. We can help connect you with affirming primary care providers, resources, and other community supports to help you get your needs met in the meantime.
GHC is not a medical facility and we do not provide any primary care services.
